Gut health issues plague most of us in our modern day society. It was a key reason why I began to look into natural health, and I know the same can be said for many others. In fact Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, whose wisdom has lasted over 2,000 years said, “all disease begins in the gut”.
The general medical opinion is that this is a major generalisation and that much disease is, at least in part, hereditary. It is worth noting however, that while some diseases do seem to run in the family, a lot of other things do too. Diet, exercise habits and patterns of stress also tend to be passed from generation to generation.
What can we do to reclaim our health and tackle digestion issues?
Diet is, of course, the first area to address. Our bodies are simply not designed to ingest the processed, packaged, genetically modified junk (aptly named) food that we have become so accustomed to. This is known and accepted in the mainstream, however animal products are still consumed by the vast majority and they are a significant contributor to digestive problems. Let’s look at three of the most common stomach complaints and what you can do to address them:
Parasites
Addressing stomach issues is never a pleasant subject, but thinking about parasites is about as unpleasant as it gets! Parasites are actually far more common than you might imagine, meat that is not well cooked is a major hazard, but even water in some underdeveloped countries are contaminated. What’s even worse is that a person infected can leave microscopic parasitic eggs on door handles or phones if they don’t wash their hands properly. It can be tricky to know if you actually do have parasites, as even conventional stool tests at the GP can miss them.
There are a lot of symptoms that can point towards having parasites, but it’s best to check in with one of our Practitioners if you’re not sure. If you already know you have parasites, taking the correct Parasite formula, is an important step in the right direction. Dr Morse has two distinct formulas for fighting parasites. The Parasite M formula was created target microorganism infestations like viruses, bacteria, fungi and protozoans. The Parasite G formula on the other hand is meant for larger parasites like flukes or worms, so ensure you are taking the correct formula for what type of parasite you are dealing with.
Constipation
Eating low fibre foods like meat, dairy and egg are a surefire way to increase your risk of chronic constipation. Increasing your intake of high fibre foods like fruits and vegetables, drinking enough water and moving your body are all good ways to get things moving, but if you already have all that under control and want an extra boost, Dr Morse’s GI Broom is a great option. Just be warned, it is powerful!
The GI Broom was designed to remove toxic buildup on the intestinal wall. It’s so strong though, that it also pulls through the intestinal wall into the lymphatic system where lymph stagnation can cause malabsorption, GI tract inflammation which is the cause of enteritis, colitis and polyps. It also helps to remove sulfur accumulation and other toxic chemicals that have been stored in the GI tract wall.
Pain
It’s hard to focus on anything else when you have stomach pain. There are a lot of reasons why a person suffers from chronic stomach pain, it could be IBS, it could be Crohns, it could be a food allergy. For me, I began to have terrible stomach cramps in 2012, and so I went on an elimination diet and cut out gluten and dairy. I found that I could easily handle gluten once or twice a day, but by eliminating dairy from my diet, stomach pain is now a distant memory!
Dr Morse’s Stomach and Bowel Formulas are numbered from 0 to 5, and it’s a good idea to familiarise yourself with the differences between each formula. Let’s take a look:
Stomach and Bowel 0: This herbal formula was created for inflammation, ulceration and deterioration of the gastrointestinal tract. It helps to strengthen and rejuvenate the stomach and intestines. This formula has no movement (stimulating) power to it. This formula is for those who need help decreasing their over active bowel movements.
Stomach and Bowel 1: This herbal formula was created for inflammation, ulceration and deterioration of the gastrointestinal tract. It helps to strengthen and rejuvenate the stomach and intestines. This formula has no movement (stimulating) power to it. This formula is for those that move their bowels too much or are perfectly normal (2 to 3 easy movements per day).

Stomach and Bowel 5: This herbal formula acts like a very strong mover, as it rebuilds, restores, and rejuvenates the gastrointestinal tract. The next step is a laxative which is much more of a stimulant (can be detrimental and addictive).
While taking steps to improve your diet is vital, self-diagnosis is never a good idea. Speaking with an experienced Practitioner is an invaluable part of everyone’s healing journey. A Practitioner will give you the clarity and direction that will save you from making mistakes, and help you to avoid wasting a lot of time on products or practices that do not serve you.
