One of our most frequently asked questions is whether you can successfully detox cats. The answer is simply, yes!!
Detoxification is a natural process that takes place in a cat’s body, but we are finding that many cats are in a weakened state of health. So they need more than just a “healthy whole food diet” to cleanse and regenerate their failing health. This is where Cellular Botanical Herbs come in. They are crucial to the detoxification process.
We must keep in mind that cats are true carnivores, not frugivores like humans, and not omnivores like dogs. Cats also do not possess GI tracts that can digest and absorb fruits. So, when detoxing a cat, we must rely solely on herbs and a raw diet that is biologically appropriate for their species. Cats do need a little vegetable matter in their diet, and in the wild, they will get this from other animal’s pre-digested grasses. This is why I love using Dr. Morse’s Superfood I with cats. It is packed with greens, nutrients, and superfoods.
Commercial pet foods have been falsely marketed and implemented for human convenience, and not for the benefit of our animal’s quality of life. With that said, I highly recommend that animal caretakers begin to slowly transition their cats to a raw diet, before starting a herbal protocol for optimal results.
Kibbles, in particular, have very low water content and are cooked at escalating temperatures, making them carcinogenic. Most are cooked numerous times in order to preserve a shelf life, and they lack quality and nutrition. This type of commercial feeding may wreak havoc on your pet’s urinary tract and compromise their kidney function. If your cat cannot metabolize, digest, absorb, and utilize the nutrition within the body, the body will begin to become unbalanced. We know that once one system is compromised, the others will follow. Raw whole foods are what nature intended and no animal in the wild eats cooked food.
When beginning a detox protocol you may see your cat may put up a fight (more than dogs will) when it comes to consuming herbs. I highly recommend glycerin tinctures over the alcohol based ones, especially for cats. More than likely, your cat may not eat their food when herbs are present. This is not the case for everyone. I have heard of some cats having no issues ingesting the herbs.
For this reason, I recommend a “burrito wrapping” technique that is similar to wrapping a newborn baby. You wrap the cat tightly like you would a newborn baby and take a syringe full of the herb tinctures to the corner of the cat’s mouth. Typically you only need a couple drops of each tincture based on the animal’s weight. The length of herbal usage depends on the current state of health and your specific pet health goals. Ideally, I like to see animals benefit from a minimum of 14 weeks on an herbal protocol. Some pets with deeper health issues will more than likely be on herbs longer. I do suggest a consultation with a qualified detox practitioner. Tips, tricks and a little coaching go a long way!
Let’s hear about the experiences of two people who have detoxed their beloved cats using detoxification principles.
In the following video, Rene Green shares her testimony on working with detoxification principles for her cat’s health issues. She saved thousands of dollars not going through with the allopathic path of surgery.
(Please note: Rene mentions using a whole dropperful of the lymphatic tincture formula in an emergency situation. This is not recommended for most cases.)
The next video features Eva and her cat, Howard. She talks about her experience following her veterinarian’s pressure of having a perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery done on her cat.
We hope that this article and Eva and Rene’s testimonials inspire you to investigate the detoxification process if you have a cat, who needs some help. If you’d like to learn more about this topic, or speak to Tamra you can click here.
